On our journey towards operational excellence, we are looking for a Material Controller to join our team here at Williams Racing. In this role you will ensure efficient management of materials within the team, focusing on engineering releases for standard parts, subcontract transport coordination, stock level maintenance, and ad-hoc order management. This role is pivotal in aligning materials availability with the team's operational and engineering objectives, enabling on-time delivery and optimal performance. As a Material Controller, your key responsibilities will be:

  • Collaborate with design and engineering teams to understand specifications and prioritize the release of critical components.
  • Validate release data, flagging inconsistencies or potential issues to relevant stakeholders.
  • Coordinate the efficient transportation of parts to and from subcontractors, adhering to tight schedules and quality standards.
  • Monitor transit times and delivery milestones to ensure timely return of components for assembly or further processing.
  • Liaise with logistics providers to address any transport delays or issues, escalating as needed.
  • Monitor stock levels for standard and critical components, maintaining predefined minimum order levels.
  • Analyse usage trends and adjust stock thresholds to align with production demands and project timelines.
  • Communicate stock replenishment requirements to the procurement team, ensuring uninterrupted operations.
  • Raise and process ad-hoc purchase orders for the operations team, responding to urgent material requirement, and ensure these are tracked, received and recorded accurately.
  • Prepare regular reports on material usage, stock levels, and transport activities for management review.
  • Maintain accurate records of engineering releases, purchase orders, and transport schedules for auditing purposes.
  • Act as a central point of contact between engineering, operations, procurement, and logistics teams.
  • Support production planning by providing real-time updates on material availability and delivery schedules.
  • Assist in troubleshooting material-related issues, ensuring minimal disruption to operations, and support implementation and maintenance of best practices.

    Previous experience in material control, supply chain, or logistics within a high-pressure environment such as motorsport, aerospace, or manufacturing.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems and inventory management software, D365 experience is beneficial.
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities with strong attention to detail.
  • Demonstrative ability to use D365 for all aspects of inventory control.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, for reporting and analysis.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for cross-functional collaboration.
  • Ability to interpret engineering data and translate it into actionable material requirements.
