Full Job Description

As a Material Planner, you will have a role that is out of the ordinary. Our Vehicle Engineering business operates a whole life methodology to specialist vehicle conversions. This ranges from concept design and assessment, to manufacture and installation of customer specific equipment, through to maintenance and eventual decommissioning of the vehicle.

Day to day, you will be responsible for managing the release of demands for materials. Moreover, you will coordinate all change control activities, amongst also creating and distributing material availability and shortage reports. This new role brings an opportunity to develop the role through continuous improvement activities.

  • Support the Sales and Operations Planning process by developing the material requirements

  • Support in the evolving, manage and maintain the MRP tool

  • Engage with internal stakeholders in continuous improvement activities within the Material planning function and evolve existing processes through continuous improvement

  • Raise and release purchase requisitions towards procurement based on demand profiles

  • Control of materials under engineering change process towards all stakeholders


  • This role is full time, 37.5 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements with days in the office/onsite and days working from home.

  • Proven experience within an engineering planning environment

  • Ability to use spreadsheets (Excel), databases, shared working environment and other IT programmes

  • Willingness to work 'hands on' across the wider business when necessary.

  • Self-starter with high energy levels, personal drive and commitment.

  • Experienced user of material requirements planning systems / Tools


  • Qualifications for the Material Planner:
  • Higher Diploma Level or relevant experience is desirable but not essential

    The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
