Full Job Description

As a Parts Strategy Engineer, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. You'll be part of an experienced team who support the UK Armed forces with spares, directly effecting vehicle availability and reliability.

Day-to-day, you'll You will have the responsibility to maintain a material strategy by part (sometimes referred to as supply solution by part) which would promote the challenge and improvement of specifications, direct routes to supply, capture issues, enable obsolescence management, and mitigate counterfeit. This would enable stability in the supply chain, improve supplier relations, allow more accurate forecasting, improve understanding of risk, and enhance supply chain improvement.

  • Promote and reinforces safe behaviour, stays alert to conditions that affect employee safety and never compromises on health and safety

  • Maintain the Material Strategy by Part Master Database, including managing obsolescence triage to correct resolution

  • Review demand for intervention opportunities

  • Manage requirements for revised specifications because of tactical or planned review and pass to the relevant teams

  • Review procurement issues as escalated by the technical and obsolescence team


  • This role is full time, 37 hours per week and is based on site at Donnington.

    Essential experience of the Parts Strategy Engineer:
  • Advanced PC user (MS Office, MS Outlook, SharePoint, ERP system)

  • Experience of working with data and reporting tools (e.g., Clarity. MS Excel)

  • Ability to multi-task

  • Ability to make rational decisions based on information available.

  • Ability to react to changing demands


  • Qualifications for the Parts Strategy Engineer:
  • Educated to Level 3 in National Qualification Framework (NQF) as a minimum (Intermediate apprenticeship, Level 3 NVQ) or equivalent workplace experience.

    The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
