Full Job Description

The Store Controller is responsible for the supply, storage, distribution and servicing of engineering materials, tools, consumables and hired plant or materials in support of the company's activity. Activities Include, But Are Not Limited To The Following

  • Maintain and monitor registers of material stock and material in transit to ensure availability within prescribed timescalles.
  • Arrange statutory and other inspections of company owned and hired equipment to ensure records are accurate at all times.
  • Set stock levels for consumables, tools and safety equipment to support engineering activity.
  • Procure materials and consumables to maintain required stocks and/or satisfy call-off lists and one-off requirements
  • Maintain storage areas in an orderly and safe condition, ensuring that materials are stacked securely and that racking systems are fit for purpose and regularly inspected for defects
  • Liaise with material users at site to ensure that adequate stocks are available, that transport arrangements are in place, and that space is available in the stock areas for returning materials
  • Supervise the activities of labourers, drivers, storekeepers and other workers to ensure materials are in the right place at the right time.
  • Ensure that essential safety requirements are in place, and that rules and procedures are followed.
  • Ensure that facilities are in place and used for the storage of any hazardous material, and that environmental protection and clean-up measures are in place.
  • Proactively work with the team providing positive input and support with ongoing project activities and ad hoc requirements
  • Identify and recommend opportunities to enhance team working approaches to ensure continuous improvement and efficiencies are achieved
  • Continually update knowledge and understanding to maintain CPD
