Full Job Description

We're recruiting for interns to join our Materials Engineering team at the McLaren Technology Centre in Woking, Surrey. Please note this position is on-site 5 days a week at the McLaren Technology Centre, to best facilitate your learning and development during the scheme. The closing date for applications is Friday, 15th November 2024. Virtual first stage interviews will take place in early January 2025, with the second stage of the process being on-site assessment centres in late January/early February. What You'll Do You'll have a key role in supporting a team of Materials Engineers with fundamental development and analysis to understand the relationship between material properties, manufacturing processes, and in-service performance of a wide range of our supercars. You will be actively involved in all stages of the Materials Engineering Process, from supporting the design office with materials recommendation, testing and characterising material properties, and conducting failure analysis investigations.

  • Knowledge and experience from at least two years of undergraduate study in a Materials Science or Materials Engineering degree, with an expected 2:1 or higher.
  • Practical knowledge of materials characterisation techniques.
  • Hands-on approach to problem solving.
  • Excellent communication skills and experience working in a team environment while also confidently alone too.
  • Flexible approach to working hours, and weekend working when required.
  • Willingness to travel, working for periods away from home.
