Materials Handler - If you are a dedicated and skilled individual with a passion for excellence, we invite you to join our team at the United States Air Force, 48th Logistics Readiness Squadron, RAF Lakenheath We are looking for someone with knowledge and experience to perform a full range of warehousing duties with responsibility of handling or overseeing one or more product lines. Why RAF Lakenheath: Located in the heart of Suffolk, RAF Lakenheath is home to the 48th Logistics Readiness Squadron. This base is pivotal in maintaining international security and fostering strong alliances between the US and UK. Our team is dedicated to excellence, innovation, and the highest standards of operational readiness., You will be responsible for organizing and coordinating an effective receiving and coordinating an effective storage operation. You will perform task involved in issuing and shipping items as well as material handling duties, including the use of tools and other equipment, in a safe manner, utilizing safety practices and procedures, and complying with established safety rules and regulations. You will assist in accomplishing inventories by counting items and properly completing tally listings and other inventory documents. You will maintain records and documents actions. The work may require the employee to drive a motor vehicle. An appropriate, CAT B valid driver's license may be required for the position. Your hours of work will be 39 hours per week on a fixed schedule Mon-Fri 0730-1600 where start & end times may be modified due to mission needs and in accordance with the organization's flexible working policies.
You will have knowledge of accepted warehousing methods, procedures, and material handling techniques; and of warehousing functions such as material receiving, storage, issuing, and, preservation and knowledge of warehouse configurations, storage requirements for commodities, and storage documentation requirements; and of inventory procedures. You will show knowledge of regulations, procedures, and policies related to records maintenance and documentation, and of safety regulations, practices, and procedures. You will have skill in the use of automated material processing equipment and systems to include forklifts. You will have the ability to prepare inventory and production reports; and to screen shipping and receiving documents for discrepancies and the ability to interpret and apply instructions pertaining to material handling; and to maintain tools, equipment, and work area in a neat, clean, and orderly manner. Other significant facts about the role: You will be required to handle and safeguard sensitive information in accordance with applicable US and UK laws, rules and regulations. You may be required to travel by military and/or civilian aircraft, and you may also be required to travel to the US or other country, in the performance of official duties or attend necessary training, this position may also be coded as mission essential. You will be required to complete a 6-month probationary period. Overtime may be required, and you may be assigned other duties not included in this position description, but that are appropriate to the grade and skill set of the incumbent. Must be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. May be required to work other than normal duty hours, which may include evenings, weekends, and/or holidays. Emergency overtime may be required but cannot be guaranteed. As required, may train and/or guide other personnel in performance of material handling duties. All successful applicants will require a security clearance and a right to work in the UK.
