Full Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen with the Northern Care Alliance to Lead and support the existing maternal medicine team.

We are looking for a dynamic, enthusiastic and creative Midwife to lead the Maternal Medicine service alongside the established obstetric team to drive and maintain the high quality standards of midwifery care throughout the Maternity service.

You will need to be naturally responsive to the changing demands on your priorities and workloads, and manage your own diary efficiently. The post holder will need to be confident enough to instigate and drive local change to meet the expectations and standards set by the national programmes.

The role will be cross-site to cover both The Royal Oldham Hospital and Rochdale Infirmary. You will need to be willing to travel flexibly to both sites and to outside events/meetings as and when necessary.

This is an excellent opportunity for you to develop leadership and quality improvement skills in a warm friendly supportive environment, whilst maintaining clinical skills., The Maternal Medicine Specialist Midwife will provide equitable and expert support for women with pre-existing or pregnancy-induced significant medical issues, to ensure sustainability of that care, and additionally provide perinatal mental health support or other onward referral as required. They may also provide support for colleagues providing these services, and form links through into the Greater Manchester Maternal Medicine Network.

The post holder will have responsibility for the provision of effective and efficient service within the midwifery units in the Trust. They will provide clinical and professional management and leadership for the team. They will work alongside the Lead Clinician for the Trust, and also with the Local Maternity System.

The post holder is responsible for ensuring the assessment of care needs and the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care are maintained to a high standard. They will manage the reporting aspects of the Maternal Medicine provision within their unit and ensure cost effective use of resources.

Act as a motivational role model by applying best practice in motivating staff to drive improvements and provide visible leadership on shift in the workplace.
