Full Job Description

Support the Head of Maternity Governance on monitoring standards relating to Maternity Incentive Scheme Safety Actions.

Support the maternity services in meeting its statutory requirements and clinical governance objectives by monitoring and reporting on the progress of national drivers and regulatory initiatives such as Saving Babies Lives Care Bundle, NHS Resolution Maternity Incentive Scheme, Clinical audit agenda, MBRRACE and the Perinatal Mortality Review Tool and the national maternity reports relating to Ockendon, Kirkup, Nottingham and other maternity service reviews. The post holder will ensure triangulation of information and intelligence from National and Local drivers.

The post holder will be responsible for leading the maternity quality assurance agenda in line with the Trust Policies & Procedures and best practice guidance relating to CNST submissions, saving babies lives and ATTAIN.

Lead on the development of policies and procedures and associated documentation related to maternity quality assurance to ensure they comply with MIS Safety actions, NHSR risk management standards and any other external monitoring bodies. Ensure policies are implemented, monitored and reviewed.

Maintain working relationships with clinical colleagues and the senior midwifery leadership team to deliver on the requirements of this post

Main duties of the job

Establish regulation and compliance programs for dedicated specific areas of compliance identified for Maternity Incentive Scheme Safety Actions.

Support clinical teams with external reviews, Quality Assurance visits and ensure process and support is in place for on-going monitoring and quality improvement methodology applied to action plans.

Be regularly visible / present in clinical areas, encouraging interaction with all groups of staff and speaking with staff to enable triangulation of data and establish effective working relationships.

Work closely with the other quality governance teams within the Trust to ensure meaningful and proactive triangulation of data

Support the implementation, delivery and compliance of actions from national maternity reviews

Respond to requirements for assurance, evidence submissions, general report for compliance by the LMNS and NHSE/I as required.

Ensure the development and management of compliance and QA plans as required.

Work collaboratively with the Midwifery management and Consultant Obstetricians to identify appropriate audit programmes are initiated in response to clinical incident investigation/trend analysis, and ensure that improvements identified are implemented.
