Full Job Description

The successful candidate will take a key role in supportingthe midwifery staff by providingindividualised care to both the mother and the baby within defined parameters specified by the registered midwife.Knowledgeofwomen's health issues and experience within both hospital and community setting is essential however training will be provided in other aspects of care such as breastfeeding andmaternal and neonatal screening.

  • Assist in the implementation of direct clinical care in antenatal clinic, unit and in the home setting
  • Undertake training and practice of agreed clinical competencies in basic nursing skills for designated area
  • Support RM's in providing information and advice on health promotion
  • Keep up to date with changes in clinical practice and the effect of these on your role
  • Work as an effective team member of the clinical team and support continued team development
  • Ensure client dignity and individual client needs are met

    We operate from three main hospitals - Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community health care premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre.
  • FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services. WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses. All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies, day case and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.
