Full Job Description
An exciting opportunity has opened for the role of the Maternity Support Worker within our maternity departments at Princess Royal University Hospital. The role involves supporting the midwifery teams to provide individualised care to birthing people and babies throughout their maternity journey and facilitating a positive experience., o To assist under supervision in the delivery of fundamental nursing and midwifery care in liaison with the multidisciplinary team.
o To contribute to the implementation and progression of a range of women/birthing people treatment and care programmes as delegated by a registered healthcare practitioner, reporting back on progress.
o To work in partnership with midwives and members of the multi-disciplinary team in providing clinical, practical, social, and environmental support as necessary within the hospital and community setting.
o To assist with clinical duties to ensure the effective running of the ward/department.
o Provide day to day supervision and co-ordination of junior staff acting both as a leader and role model for care assistants (band 2).
o The post holder will provide person centred care to the birthing person/families by providing a positive experience and developing a positive relationship to understand their care needs.
o In-house induction and mandatory training updates would be provided annually. Our specialist infant feeding team will provide specific training relating to the care of the birthing people and baby including infant feeding support.
We are looking for applicants with experience in working in the maternity care setting who can work independently undertaking allocated tasks whilst remaining under the direct/indirect supervision of a registered midwife.
Please only apply to this role if you are a qualified Maternity Support Worker and have completed the Level 3 Maternity Support Worker qualification or Maternity Support worker Foundation degree pathway.
Candidates would be supported to undertake the specific competencies relating to their role including the Care Certificate and competencies in the skills passports.
The post holder may be rotated within the maternity departments and will be expected to work pro rota on shift pattern, including nights, weekends and bank holidays.
Suitable candidates for the role have excellent communications skills, caring, sensitive and friendly, have the ability to work within the multidisciplinary team, have an awareness to priorities, deals with workload, adapts to changing requirements, and have a positive approach to work.
