This is a full-time role however, we will consider a part-time options. The minimum we can offer is a temporary immediate 0.6FTE adjustment to a permanent contract or a permanent 0.8 FTE. Please state your preference in your application.

Outwood Grange Academy is a good rated, 11-18 academy based in the cathedral city of Wakefield, near Leeds from where the successful Outwood Grange Family was born; a Trust that has supported schools across phases in the North of England. We have nurtured a school community that is welcoming and friendly, where students and staff can make excellent progress together, with a focus on creating a culture of success, a positive climate for learning, and increased attainment, achievement and social and emotional development. We believe our success speaks for itself as we are well above the national average for the number of students achieving at a Grade 5 or above in English and maths GCSEs. We are also proud to have been awarded Gold Status by the Carnegie Centre of Excellence for Mental Health Award. We work hard to ensure we reduce workload on staff, allowing more time in the classroom to put our vision of students first, raising standards and transforming lives into practice.

You will be well supported by an experienced team of Teachers and Directors as you work to raise attainment levels and offer an engaging curriculum experience that focuses on teaching for understanding. The Maths department has nineteen full and part-time teachers, and three maths one-to-one tutors. The department is a combination of experienced staff and more recent entrants to the profession. Teaching takes place in the department's eighteen classrooms. Every classroom has a large interactive television screen, a whiteboard and a visualiser on a podium which is used extensively by the team.

The Academy benefits from being part of the Outwood Family of Schools, which affords opportunities for staff to work and progress across several schools if desired. All staff are guaranteed a minimum of two hours CPD per week and a further comprehensive programme of professional development is provided through our own network of teaching schools. Our Executive Director for Maths leads the Yorkshire and the Humber Maths Hub and there are masses of opportunities for you to get involved in the fantastic projects they run.
