Full Job Description

A high-achieving secondary school in the vibrant borough of Sutton is seeking to appoint a well-qualified and enthusiastic Mathematics Teacher to join their successful Mathematics department. This is a full-time, permanent position commencing in January 2025. The Role: The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching Mathematics across Key Stages 3 and 4, with the possibility of teaching at Key Stage 5 depending on the candidate's specialism and experience. Key responsibilities include:

  • Planning and delivering engaging and challenging lessons that meet the requirements of the national curriculum and inspire students to develop a love of mathematics and numeracy.
  • Creating a stimulating and supportive learning environment that encourages student participation, problem-solving, and a growth mindset towards mathematics.
  • Assessing and monitoring student progress, providing constructive feedback, and implementing differentiated learning strategies to cater to diverse learning needs and abilities.
  • Utilizing a variety of teaching resources, including technology and collaborative activities, to enhance students' mathematical learning and engagement.
  • Collaborating with colleagues within the Mathematics department to develop and enhance the curriculum, share best practices, and contribute to the school's commitment to excellence in mathematics education.

    A degree in Mathematics or a closely related field.
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent teaching qualification.
  • A strong understanding of the KS3 and KS4 Mathematics curriculum, with knowledge of KS5 desirable.
  • Excellent subject knowledge and a passion for mathematics.
  • Strong classroom management skills and the ability to create a positive and inclusive learning environment.
