Full Job Description

We are looking for a Mechanical Components Engineer to join our Mechanical Components Branch as part of our Nuclear Services Business, supporting the delivery of EDFs projects such as Hinkley Point C (HPC) and Sizewell C (SZC).

In your role, you will be maintaining technical oversight of the design and supply chain, to ensure the safety case requirements are captured and fulfilled during the design, procurement, manufacturing, construction and commissioning of the plant.

The role sits within the Mechanical Equipment team, which is responsible for technical oversight and delivery of ~150 equipment contracts placed across the whole plant.

This is an excellent opportunity to develop in depth knowledge on EPR design and operation, to work in a fast-paced project environment.,

  • Acting as the single point of contact to the Programme Team (who are responsible for delivery of the product) to ensure a safe, constructible and fit for purpose design is delivered

  • Performing technical review and acceptance of design documentation produced by designers and suppliers of equipment.

  • Maintaining oversight to ensure safety case requirements are captured in the design and the 'golden thread' can be clearly traced.

  • Managing technical issues to enable the delivery of pragmatic solutions, challenging where appropriate.

  • Ensuring that plant satisfy design requirements to relevant codes and standards.

  • Providing technical support to more junior engineers within the team.

  • Providing technical input into the management of risks and opportunities.

  • Developing and maintaining effective working relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, including managing interactions with the ONR.

    Are you an experienced Mechanical Engineer looking for new opportunity? Do you work collaboratively and bring people together to solve problems? Are you comfortable making decisions and passionate about helping Britain achieve Net-Zero?, Degree (or equivalent qualification or experience) in a Mechanical Engineering discipline

  • Knowledge of the principles of Safety Case requirements and how these are discharged through the project life cycle.

  • Knowledge of equipment design and manufacture.

  • Experience of contractual aspects of a project environment.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to communicate with stakeholders at all levels.

  • Understanding of Nuclear Power Station design; PWR or EPR experience would be an advantage.
