Full Job Description

  • Maintenance Supervision: Oversee planned and reactive maintenance tasks, working closely with the building engineering supervisor and daily team.

  • Liaison Duties: Coordinate with engineering management and client representatives to ensure maintenance aligns with site regulations, policies, and health & safety standards.

  • Reporting: Report to the engineering supervisor on-site, supporting shift teams in executing tasks safely and efficiently within specific timeframes.


  • Role OverviewAs the Mechanical Data Centre Engineer, you will:
  • Regular Maintenance: Conduct regular maintenance on building systems and equipment, ensuring they meet and exceed service level agreements.

  • Emergency Response: Address Building Management System alarms promptly and handle emergency repairs as necessary.

  • Permit Administration: Administer the Permit to Work systems and ensure adherence to switching schedules, SOPs, and EOPs.

  • Spare Parts Management: Manage the availability of essential spare parts for critical equipment.

  • Subcontractor Coordination: Ensure engineering subcontractors uphold contractual obligations and site protocols.

  • Team Collaboration: Foster positive relationships with team members and client personnel.

  • Safety Compliance: Uphold a safe working environment, ensuring compliance with all company and client policies and procedures.

  • Professionalism: Maintain a professional demeanor, offering exceptional customer service to clients and visitors.

  • Continuous Learning: Stay updated with industry advancements, emphasizing continuous learning and personal development.

  • Incident Response: Oversee incident response, particularly during unforeseen events or faults on-site.

  • Mechanical Systems Expertise: Handle critical mechanical systems like chilled water systems, pumps, ACUs, motors, and more.

    Training: Advantageous to have Manual Handling Training.

  • Authorization: HV Authorization required.

  • Certification: Valid Wiring Regulations certificate.

  • Education: Level 3 NVQ in a related discipline.

  • First Aid: Emergency First Aid at Work Qualification.

  • Experience: Proven experience in incident/fault management within critical environments.

  • Health & Safety: Demonstrated proficiency in health and safety protocols related to maintenance tasks.

  • Communication: Effective verbal communication skills.

  • Skills: Numeracy and literacy skills.

  • Commitment: Dedication to safety, integrity, and diligence.

  • Autonomy: Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively.

  • Organization: Well-organized with the capability to manage high-pressure situations.

  • Professionalism: Strong client-facing skills and professional demeanor.

  • Equipment Operation: Comfortable operating vertical access equipment.

  • Flexibility: Flexible with working hours.

  • Preferred Certifications: PASMA & IPAF.

  • System Familiarity: Familiarity with interconnected systems (Fire, PMS, BMS).

  • Ownership: Strong sense of ownership and accountability.
