Full Job Description

We provide the front end design and engineering capability across the Programme and Project Partners (PPP) portfolio. Being part of the PPP Team offers a unique opportunity to drive change and innovation in engineering, safety and delivery solutions in one of the most complex industrial sites in the UK if not the world. We are looking for people who are passionate about developing themselves and in meeting new challenges. The Project The Special Nuclear Materials (SNM) Future State Programme will focus on providing additional modern standard, resilient storage capacity to store 100 Year Packages until the final disposition solution is implemented. SNM Future Storage is currently in the 'Feasibility' stage of the project lifecycle. Several possible variations of credible new build stores were considered during the 'Programme Study . The scope of this current phase of study is to consider a wider range of new build scenarios. Credible new build options need to be identified , underpinned, and down selected to then progress through to the Appraise and Select phase with submission of Strategic Outline Case . Responsibilities will include

  • Develop design concepts into scheme drawings and translate into General Arrangement, Sub- Assembly and detail drawings in accordance with British Standard and client specifications.
  • Work alongside and support Designer grade team members .
  • Liaise with other engineering disciplines .
  • Prepare for and attend design reviews as required .
  • Prepare for and attend HAZOPS as required .
  • Experienced in AutoDesk AutoCAD and AutoDesk Inventor 2D/3D design software .
  • Mechanical handling experience .
  • In-Cell/Nuclear Containment Design Experience .
  • HNC/BTEC .
  • Knowledge of relevant drawing standards BS8888, BS5070 and BS EN 61082 .
  • Awareness of 'Designer Role' CDM regulatory requirements .
