Full Job Description
We are currently seeking a Mechanical and Electrical Technician you will be primarily based out of our Maple Lodge Sewage Treatment Works however you will be working across the West of the Thames Water region for the Small Sewage Pumping Station team. As the successful candidate, you will be responsible for the maintenance of or Pumping Assets in the field, across the West of the Thames Water region. In the role of a front-line technician, your responsibility will be to ensure you will maintain our Pumping Assets for our customers, 365 days a year. You will work as part of an established and high-performing field team who have a direct impact on Thames Water's performance in several key areas. The role encompasses a wide-ranging remit, making each day different from the last and posing a unique challenge. On a day-to-day basis, you will receive your "workload" and will also be responding to emergency alarms working as part of a team but may also be alone which highlights the importance of our high health and safety standards. What you'll be doing as the Mechanical and Electrical Technician
- Investigate plant failures and carry out repairs as quickly and efficiently as possible to avoid interruptions to the process.
- This may involve investigating and diagnosing complex faults and carrying out repairs during incidents.
- You will be expected to provide technical advice, refer to up-to-date technical knowledge, and provide training or support for technical trainees if required.
- Examples of equipment that you will be working on will be motors, various pumps, and associated control gear, 3-phase motors, starters and controls, electronic control systems such as flow, level and pressure measurement, programmable logic controllers, variable speed drives and controls, chemical handling, and dosing equipment.
To be a time-served apprentice with an NVQ or C&G level 3 in mechanical and electrical qualification. - Experience working in water or a similar industry with skills transferrable from another sector.
- Experience working on large industrial plant equipment including various pumps within the utilities industry would be beneficial. Would suit mechanical maintenance/service engineers or mechanics from any industry.
- 18TH Edition would be beneficial but not a requirement but one must be willing to obtain it during probation.
- Knowledge and awareness of health and safety issues are essential.
- The work will require physical fitness as you will work in manual handling and often physically demanding roles.
- Be willing to work in a confined space when required.
- A valid driving licence is essential and all necessary equipment such as tools are provided.
- Be a self-motivated individual who can immerse themselves into the team around them, you need to be very disciplined have the desire to learn from those around you and have a can-do attitude. This role can be demanding at times but very rewarding too.
- Take Ownership of responding quickly to faults, being curious to fully understand the problem, and identifying the best solution to resolve it the first time.
- Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, to interact with the team.

- Proactive - take the lead on recommendations and improvements around the site and communicate effectively.
- Must be prepared to be trained in safety procedures.
- Knowledge and awareness of health and safety standards.

Thames Water - Competitive salary up to £39,000 per annum depending on skills and experience.
- Standby rota payments & Overtime opportunities can increase this earning potential by up to a further £8,000-£10,000 per annum upon completion of essential company training.

Working Pattern 36 Hours Monday- Friday 8:00 am - 4:00 pm plus standby & overtime opportunity increasing earning by potential £8,000-£10,000 per annum upon completion of essential company training.,
