Mechanical Engineer Intern (12 months) - Starting Summer 2025

Working in our mechanical engineering team you will be exposed to a variety of projects and work closely with other engineers and departments. You will use software for modelling, simulation and design (e.g. ANSYS), and experience hands-on work (physical tests, fitment checks) , working to improve and solve a range of challenges targeting reliability, Cost Of Service Delivery, Maintainability and/or support manufacturing. You will be working alongside Senior Mechanical and Electrical Engineers learning the variety of the subjects, for example: concept identification, design assessment, testing set-up, data processing etc. Your responsibilities will be clearly defined however not limited to the scope of the internship (you can choose to be involved in other parts of the project or in general activities of the centre). Deliverables:

  Master Degree - (Penultimate or Final year) in Mechanical or Materials or a related discipline

Over 400 employees work in SHTC's modern, fit-for-purpose building in scenic Gloucestershire. The facility was constructed to handle future demand for PowerDrive tools with an efficient workflow that ensures assembled tools are extensively and rigorously tested before delivery. On site, tools can be monitored using state of-the-art hardware and connectivity that link SHTC to all field locations. SHTC continues Research & Development investment for new technologies, extending operational limits so that clients can reach hotter, deeper reserves.
