Full Job Description

Ready to fuel the success of globally renowned brands like Gillette, Pampers, Head & Shoulders and Oral-B? Do you want to be part of the innovation and technological advancement of products used every day by millions of the world's consumers? Want to work for a company consistently recognised as one of the UK's leading graduate employers? Then apply for a Mechanical Engineering internship in Gillette's Process & Engineering (P&E) department at P&G based in our Reading Innovation Centre. We are a group who always look for opportunities - whether that's in researching and testing a new technology; improving a piece of equipment's efficiency; or even making a process more sustainable to help reach the company's 2030 and 2040 Sustainability Goals. We believe that there is always an opportunity to grow and develop. If you were to join our team, you would be given responsibility from Day 1 to collaborate with vendors to design, develop and deliver equipment to our global partners, and be part of design reviews to expand initial concepts into our world-renowned products and packs. What To Expect: We offer 3 to 6 month internship placements in either our Moulding, Packing or Assembly groups. During your internship, you will get a first-hand experience of what a career in P&E with P&G involves, and if it is right for you. You will be working on live business projects and expected to dive straight in and take the lead. Previous Mechanical Engineering internship projects have covered topics such as creating a 'Gold Standard' process in sustainability for our worldwide Moulding equipment, designing the Disposables Cartridge Assembly Machine Unload Flip Mechanism, and evaluating automation in packing tool lines. Sounds challenging? Don't worry - we don't expect you to know how to do this, we can teach you. Each intern receives a customized learning plan to ensure they get the right levels of coaching, mentoring and training as they deliver their work. If you are looking for an exciting and challenging experience, have a passion for winning, strong leadership credentials and an interest in pursuing a career at P&G - this internship is for you! This internship is available in our Innovation Centre in Reading. What You Will Gain:

  • Responsibilities and Real Work from Day 1: You will be given specific projects and responsibilities working on real and live business challenges, just like a true P&Ger.
  • Continuous training & coaching: You will work with passionate people and receive both formal training as well as day-to-day mentoring from your manager.
  • Competitive Compensation & Benefits: This is a paid internship; the monthly salary for this role is £2,333. On top of this you'll enjoy lots of benefits like the option to enrol in our pension, discounted P&G products, perks and flexible working arrangements. To find more information about our benefits package take a look here (https://www.pgcareers.com/benefits) .
  • Full-time Role: Successful interns have the potential to secure a full-time position with P&G after graduation. As a 'build from within' company, our people start at entry level and progress through the organization. When we make a job offer, it's with the expectation that you will grow into one of our future leaders, and to help you get there, you will work closely with skilled P&G veterans for mentoring and coaching at every step., For our internship roles, you will need to provide your own right to work in the UK for the full duration of your internship without requiring sponsorship from P&G. Note, this will require your right to work permission to be valid between 1st April 2025 to 30th September 2025 for a minimum of 37.5 hours per week for a 6 month placement or 1st July 2025 to 30th September 2025 for a minimum of 37.5 hours per week for a 3 month placement.
  • P&G is legally required to ensure all candidates have the right to work in the UK from Day 1 of their employment. All applicants will therefore be asked to provide evidence of their right to work at the conclusion of the recruitment process as a condition of employment.

    What We Look For:
  • University students graduating in 2026 and pursuing a degree in one of the following fields: Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Process Engineering, Material Science/Engineering, Plastics Engineering, or a related field such as Production, Product Design Engineering, Mechatronics, or Robotic Engineering.
  • Evidence of passion and achievements in academic and/or non-academic activities. Tell us what you're proud of - be it playing a musical instrument or holding down a job alongside your studies. We want to get to know you during your application and encourage you to include examples that demonstrate our Peak Performance Behaviours including what actions you took and the results you achieved in your CV.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with a desire to challenge the established way of doing things through continual improvement and innovation, delighting our consumers.
  • Strong interest in investigating and implementing new technologies and processes to step change our products and equipment.
  • Strong verbal and written English language skills.
