We are looking for motivated, dedicated and proactive mechanical and electrical team members to assist with the operation, maintenance and repair of our assets attached to the Ely Ouse to Essex Transfer Scheme and pumped groundwater support schemes across East Anglia. Your work will be varied, and you will be supported to grow your skills, knowledge and experience in your role. You will be responsible for delivering our planned preventative maintenance programme, inspections and repair activities on our impressive but ageing strategically important assets. You will report on maintenance delivery and any issues that arise on site. There will be some involvement in the delivery of upgrade/refurbishment projects. Once trained, you will be required to participate in a standby rota and be available for call out (roughly 1 in every 6 weeks) for which you will be paid in addition to your basic salary. You should ideally be located within an hour of the base location, which is Kennett Pumping Station, Newmarket, CB8 7QL. The role will involve travelling to multiple sites around East Anglia. A badged vehicle will be available for you to use for business travel. We have a mixture of electric vans and 4x4s which you will select based on efficiency and safety. All tools, PPE and training will be provided to enable you to complete your job both safely and to the high standards which we set ourselves. The team The Water Land and Biodiversity Strategically Important Asset team sits within Local Operations and leads the operation and maintenance of the Ely Ouse to Essex Transfer scheme and other pumped groundwater schemes in the area. EOETS is a large scheme, transferring water from Denver to Essex reservoirs, using a combination of pumping stations, pipelines and in-river transfer, for the purpose of public water supply and environmental support., Responding to incidents is a central part of what we do. As part of the Water Land and Biodiversity Strategically Important Asset team (WLB SIA Team) you will be responsible for carrying out maintenance and delivering repair work. Please provide an example of where you have delivered such works and how you ensured it was to a high standard. This should include how you prioritised and organised your tasks and resources to ensure timely results. Competence 2 Works in Teams, As part of the WLB SIA team you will work closely with other team members to deliver the maintenance program. Please provide an example of where you have worked co-operatively as part of a team to achieve common goals and what were the dynamics involved that contributed to a successful result. Competence 3 Health Safety & Wellbeing, Mechanical and electrical works involve complex systems which come with their own inherent risks. Please provide an example of when you have delivered a project or carried out a maintenance task and how you specifically managed your own health and safety as well as the health and safety of others. Competence 4 MEICA - Maintenance and work management systems, Our maintenance is critical to ensuring our strategically important assets are available to operate when needed. Not only will you be delivering the maintenance programme, but you will be required to accurately record what has been done and give quality feed back to our project managers where further action may be required. This data is needed to prove compliance and provide assurance that we are meeting standards.   • Qualified to a minimum of NVQ level 3 or equivalent in a mechanical or electrical discipline
  • A proven track record of mechanical/electrical maintenance experience preferably in the industrial sector
  • Living within approximately 1 hour of Newmarket
  • Full UK driving licence
  • IT skills along with good written and verbal communication skills
  • Able to work both within a team and without supervision
  • A desire to learn and participate in improving ways of working
  • It would be helpful, but not essential, if you had: previous experience in the inspection, maintenance and repair of submersible or surface mounted pumps and associated equipment, including pressure vessels. This can be taught on the job so please still consider applying if you do not have this.
