Assisting in the administration and co-ordination of postgraduate medical education and doctors in training
This post will work within the Medical Education, Development and Workforce team (MEDW). This team works closely with Universities and NHS-E Education (North East & North Cumbria) to oversee the high quality education and training of undergraduate medical students and postgraduate trainee doctors; recruitment, induction and development of Consultants and Specialty Doctors; monitoring and support with revalidation and job planning; expert advice on terms and conditions and developments to build and support the leadership journey from medical student to consultant psychiatrist.
The postholder will assist in providing high level administrative support for the delivery of the postgraduate teaching North of Tyne. Working closely with the Medical Education Administrator, Medical Education Lead, Medical Education Manager, Consultants, Directors of Medical Education, Simulation & Education Development Leads, Teaching Fellows and all grades of Doctors in Training., Assist with training delivered by the Trust for Postgraduate trainees, this would include; Trainee development programmes, supporting the planning and organisation of junior doctors inductions. Arranging adhoc training events and organising North Tyneside & Newcastle postgraduate weekly teaching. Compiling teaching attendance records, issuing certificates and report of absence level reports when required. Issuing requests for IT accounts for all grades of junior doctors. Requesting lone working devices and supporting queries and non-usage.
Monitor completion of statutory and mandatory training by junior doctors and maintain this information by inputting onto ESR. Ensuring escalation procedure for non-completion is followed.
Assisting with mid and end point reviews for trainee doctors, by arranging quarterly meetings for trainee doctors and college tutors.
Supporting the management of trainee Balint groups.
OTHER DUTIES
Internal room bookings, liaising with speakers, inputting data on relevant databases, ordering stationery and catering, and setting up rooms for teaching. Updating trust wide distribution lists, reception screens, and take room external bookings for the medical education centre as required. The postholder will provide logistical and technical support to presenters and will provide a reception service for the department. Attendance at key postgraduate meetings. Responsible for organising meetings and minute taking where necessary.
