Full Job Description

  • To assist with the receipt and processing of samples in accordance with SOP's.
  • Undertake specimen reception and data entry with a high level of accuracy
  • Collection and delivery of transport bags and consumables to and from bus / taxi.
  • Assisting in preparing Blood Sciences and Microbiology samples for transport as needed
  • Undertake pre-analytical processing of samples such as centrifugation, and post-analytical tasks such as filing/archiving
  • Undertake general portering duties within Pathology
  • Assist in monitoring stock control of consumables held in the department

We now have a 1-year fixed-term vacancy for an enthusiastic and capable Medical Laboratory Assistant at our Sutton site. The Blood Sciences department processes approximately 350,000 samples annually, striving to deliver the best possible service to our users. In this role, you will support Biomedical Scientists by receiving and managing samples to ensure they are processed efficiently and meet required turnaround times.
