Full Job Description
In this role you will support the day-to-day activities of the Haematology and Transfusion Laboratories working under the direction of qualified staff, as part of the pathology team. You will process clinical specimens for biological testing and associated supporting functions. You will also perform maintenance on instruments, running internal QC as per section policy and bring outliers to the attention of Biomedical Scientists. The role also requires the post holder to undertake relevant unsupervised housekeeping laboratory duties in a timely and efficient manner as directed by departmental policy.You should also be able to work using your own initiative, demonstrating good interpersonal and communication skills., The post holder will act as a Medical Laboratory Assistant within the Haematology and Transfusion Department, providing essential support to registered Biomedical Scientists in the diagnosis and treatment of patients. They will perform general laboratory and clerical duties both with and without the direct supervision of BMS staff., The accurate entry and retrieval of confidential patient information using the specialized laboratory computer system, in accordance with Caldicott guidelines.

This busy department operates 24 hours, is well equipped with modern automation and processes more than 470000 samples per annum., Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust was created on 1 October 2019 following the merger of two adult acute Trusts, Aintree University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and the Royal Liverpool and Broadgreen University Hospitals NHS Trust.

The post holder will be working under Agenda for Change terms and conditions, on a shift pattern covering Monday - Friday and some weekend hours.
