Full Job Description

  • Provide expert and timely medical advice within Centre for Drug Development (CDD) and to be responsible for the medical input into allocated projects, including the clinical aspects of regulatory documents and interpretation of emerging clinical and preclinical data
  • Be accountable for the broader clinical strategy and development of agents (at both clinical and preclinical stages), in particular the design of CDD trials for allocated projects
  • Give medical input to cross-functional teams, including playing an active role in operational management, assessment of new project applications and ongoing portfolio management

    We have a new opportunity for Medical Lead to join our Centre for Drug Development. This is an excellent opportunity for a highly motivated individual with either experience working in drug development in the pharmaceutical industry or a CCT in oncology. Someone who is dedicated and passionate about using their skills and knowledge to help beat cancer and save millions of lives. You should be medically qualified with previous oncology experience. Current registration with the General Medical Council (GMC) to practice medicine in the UK is essential.,
  • Current registration with the General Medical Council to practice medicine in the UK
  • Membership of the Royal College of Physicians or equivalent
  • Experience of working on Phase I and/or Phase II studies in oncology, gained either through working as an investigator/co-investigator on oncology trials or as a Medical Advisor/Monitor with direct responsibility for oncology trials
  • Working knowledge of UK and EU clinical trial regulations
  • Ability to understand and assimilate novel approaches to therapy and advise on medical aspects of complex studies.
  • Ability to work on own initiative at all times.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Good communication skills in order to liaise effectively with CRUK staff and external collaborators and authorities specifically across a matrix structure
  • Ability to maintain rigorous adherence to written procedures, guidelines and legal requirements
  • Ability to solve problems within own remit and know when to intervene, and when to escalate problems to HMS
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Good planning and organising skills
  • Excellent written English
