Full Job Description

We are looking for an enthusiastic, calm person to join our team. You will have medical knowledge and will have previously worked in the NHS/nursing profession/school nursing team for this role.

You will:

  • Be the leader of the Medical Team ensuring the school provides excellent medical assistance to our children who have long term medical needs and to oversee the First Aid provision across the school.

  • To work with families who are experiencing long term medical needs who may be needing support and advice.

  • To liaise with professionals and hospital staff to ensure the child and the family have the very best care and medical advice.

  • To support others to assess problems presented by pupils and staff, taking appropriate action and communicating with staff and parents in line with school's policy. Ensure all staff have relevant and up to date training.

  • Work especially with the Lead DSL, Attendance Officer and the SENDCo, to support the families with medical needs who attend The Disraeli School.

    Have medical qualifications ie Nursing/Doctor

  • Have experience of working in a medical/educational setting with children

  • Have good spoken and written English.

  • Have the ability to communicate both in writing and verbally with a wide range of people

  • To be confident to lead a team of people and to train up staff as needed

  • Have excellent administrative and organisational skills

  • Have the ability to offer a high level of pastoral care

  • Be IT literacy, with a high level of competence in Microsoft Excel and Word

  • Be calm, reassuring and supportive

  • Be motivated to work with children, parents and staff, Government Legislation Immigration Act 2016: All employees and workers in school communicating with pupils and parents must be fluent in spoken English.
