Full Job Description

Palmerston Road Surgery is seeking an experienced and capable medical receptionist, on a full time basis for 37.5 hours per week, playing a pivotal role in the experience of patients at our practice, helping them access the right services and dealing with their queries face-to-face, online and by telephone.,

  • Greeting and directing all patients.

  • Making appointments.

  • Answering queries and complaints from patients and outside agencies, signposting to the appropriate staff member as appropriate.

  • Accepting, issuing and handing out prescriptions, letters, completed forms, specimen bottles, etc.

  • Advising patients of practice procedures.

  • Registering new patients.

  • Accurately maintaining patient database and records, photocopying, filing and scanning.

  • Supporting the team from time to time with referrals.

  • Read-coding documents on the clinical system.

    General practice is a challenging environment that requires a calm and caring approach with the ability to work under pressure. The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated team player who has customer service/patient experience and offers excellent communication skills.

    At Palmerston Road Surgery, we have just under 5,000 registered patients. We have 3 GPs (2 partners, 1 salaried GP), 2 nurses and a busy and vibrant reception team.
