Full Job Description

Chelmer Medical Partnership has a fantastic opportunity for a medical secretary to join their team on a part-time basis, working 30.5 hours a week. This will be a 9-12 month fixed term contract commencing in November 2024 with the flexibility to days and hours to suit the successful candidate.
This is an essential front-line role at the practice, providing an efficient, comprehensive secretarial and administrative support service to the practice management team.
The main responsibilities of the role include:

  • Providing a full secretarial service including efficient audio-typing, using a digital dictation system, copy-typing and word processing, for all GPs and health professionals, as required.

  • Typing of letters, reports, patient referrals, meeting minutes and memorandums.

  • Liaising with patients regarding their care and assisting GPs with negotiating care pathways.

  • Ensuring that any requests for information from medical records are appropriately dealt with, according to practice policy, and that all subsequent charges are invoiced appropriately.

  • Performing any reasonable administrative tasks, as requested by the practice manager., If you are an experienced medical secretary looking for a new and exciting challenge, then we would love to hear from you.

    Strong audio- and touch-typing skills.

  • Administrative experience and good organisation skills.

  • Sound knowledge of medical terminology.

  • Proficiency in the MS Office package, as well as excellent general IT skills.

  • Ability to 'think on your feet'.

  • Excellent communication skills and a friendly approach.

  • Understanding of the need to maintain confidentiality and data security, at all times.

  • Ability to multi-task and to work accurately under pressure.

  • Ability to work as part of a team, as well as being comfortable working independently.

  • Ability to be able to work flexibly to cover staff absences and holiday when required.

  • Chelmer Medical Partnership was formed in 2019 from the merger of Humber Road Surgery, Melbourne House Surgery and Tennyson House Surgery. The partnership provides a GP service to approximately 32,000 patients in the Chelmsford area.
