Full Job Description

As a Medical Secretary, your main duties will cover:
· Medical audio transcription of clinical correspondence
· Carrying out administrative instructions dictated in the correspondence or given by consultants
· Actioning consultants' correspondence and assist in the organisation of their workload
· Dealing with internal and external telephone enquiries from patients, staff and external agencies
· Undertaking routine office duties including printing, scanning and filing
· Diary management and making bookings
· Dealing with patient notes, patient details, referral letters and results accordingly, To carry out secretarial and administrative duties to provide an efficient and effective medical secretarial service to the Women's and Children's Services CBU, including the designated Consultant(s), junior medical staff and multidisciplinary team.
The confidential nature of all work concerning patients must be understood and safeguarded. The Medical Secretary is part of a team and must regard the interests of the patient as paramount and, as such, must be aware of the Data Protection Act (1998) and be aware of the consequences of the failure to comply with it.

The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated, committed, and enthusiastic person with proven comprehensive medical secretarial and administrative skills.
The Women's and Children's Clinical Business Unit is an innovative, friendly and welcoming team with a passion for positive change and quality improvement. We are a passionate team and looking for a personable, enthusiastic and motivated individual, who has excellent organisational skills with a professional approach. The CBU employs a wide range of professionals including but not limited to Doctors, Nurses, Midwives and Admin teams. The successful candidate will be a valuable member of this team and the wider Trust., · Be able to prioritise your workload effectively

· Have an excellent eye for detail
· Be confident using a computer and Microsoft applications
· Have an excellent telephone manner
· Be able to communicate effectively and manage patient expectation
Knowledge of the internal computer systems including Lorenzo, BadgerNet and ICE would be an advantage, but this is not essential as training will be provided.
This post is based at Warrington Hospital, but you may be asked to travel to Halton Hospital when the need arises.
