Full Job Description

+ To provide a comprehensive administrative service to the Consultant/Medical Team to enable them to carry out their duties effectively and efficiently to ensure high quality patient care including administration of referrals where applicable and provide admin support for any audit projects.
+ To provide high quality audio/copy typing of clinical letters and word processing facilities, with medical terminology, ensuring that the work is completed in an accurate and timely manner.
+ Open, log and distribute all incoming and outgoing correspondence on behalf of Consultant/Medical Team, taking appropriate action as necessary.
+ Maintain patient/carer records stored within the Patient Clinical System (RiO) and other electronic databases utilised by the Trust as required in accordance with Trust policies and Service/Team objectives.
+ Deliver and maintain effective administrative processes and systems on behalf of Admin Manager, Inpatient Services Manager and Consultant/Medical team.
+ Manage appointment bookings in accordance with Government requirements and within specified time frames specific to Service/Team.

We are looking for a Medical Secretary who has excellent interpersonal skills and a calm and methodical approach to provide essential secretarial/administration duties to Consultants in the Inpatient Service within the Redwoods Centre.
We are looking for someone who works well within a team and on their own initiative.
Principle duties include drafting reports, taking and transcribing minutes, diary management, arranging meetings, pulling notes, electronic filing to patient record, using the hospital RiO system and other databases and liaison with other healthcare professionals.
You will be expected to have an excellent telephone manner, be courteous and efficient and have an excellent working knowledge of Word, Excel spreadsheets, emails, use of an electronic diary etc.
