As part of the Digestive Diseases (CBU) at Warrington and Halton Teaching Hospitals Foundation Trust, an exciting opportunity has arisen to work as part of the Colorectal secretarial team as a Medical Secretary.
The Digestive Diseases CBU covers Colorectal, UGI, General Surgery and Breast. This role would be based within the Colorectal & UGI secretarial team at Warrington Hospital.
This is an exciting time to be joining Warrington and Halton Hospitals and the Digestive Diseases team as we look to improve our services by undertaking a number of quality improvement projects across the department.
The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated, committed, and enthusiastic person with proven comprehensive medical secretarial and administrative skills., To carry out secretarial and administrative duties to provide an efficient and effective medical secretarial service to the Digestive Diseases CBU, including the designated Consultant(s), junior medical staff and multidisciplinary team. The confidential nature of all work concerning patients must be understood and safeguarded. The Medical Secretary is part of a team and must regard the interests of the patient as paramount and, as such, must be aware of the Data Protection Act (1998) and be aware of the consequences of the failure to comply with it.

This post is for an experienced Medical Secretary. We are looking for an enthusiastic and energetic individual to work in this extremely busy department. You will carry out comprehensive secretarial and administrative duties to provide an efficient medical secretarial service to the Digestive Diseases CBU, including the designated Consultant(s), junior medical staff and multidisciplinary team. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential to this role. Knowledge of Winscribe audio typing software would be beneficial however in-house training will be given. You need to have willingness and ability to adapt and learn quickly and have the ability to empathise with people showing understanding for patients' and relatives' needs. This includes diary management, responding to enquiries and making bookings. You will action Consultants' correspondence appropriately, and assist in the organisation of the their workload, maintaining the highest levels of discretion and
confidentiality at all times. You will ensure all patient notes, patient details, referral letters and information are captured and dealt with accordingly. Knowledge of the internal computer systems including Lorenzo, E outcome and ICE would be an advantage, but this is not essential as training will be provided.
This post is based at Warrington Hospital, but you may be asked to travel to Halton Hospital when the need arises.
