We arerecruiting for a Band 3 role in administrative services to support our patientsand colleagues within the Medical Physics Department in the Directorate ofDiagnostic Imaging. Main duties of the job This role is based at South Tyneside District Hospital. 15 hours per week, Monday and Tuesday, to Thepost is based at the Medical Physics Unit in South Tyneside District Hospital.The Medical Physics Unit at South Tyneside is part of the Directorate ofDiagnostic Imaging within the Trust. Work at other sites within the widerorganisation will be occasionally required. Thispost involves a variety of administrative and secretarial work involved inassisting clinical staff in providing the technical, scientific, and clinicalservices of the department which include Nuclear Medicine and BoneDensitometry. Thepost holder will ensure high standards of patient documentation at all timesand assist in developing a sensitive and caring environment for patients andcarers within Medical Physics. The postholder will provide administration andsecretarial support to the Department.,
- To provide secretarial and administration services for Medical Physics.
- Provide reception services to patients and visitors for Medical Physics.
- Ensure high standards of patient documentation at all times and assist in developing a sensitive and caring environment for patients and carers within Medical Physics.
Thepost holder will have excellent organisational, administrative and IT skills(with a sound knowledge of MS Office), the ability to work efficiently withstaff from a range of professional groups and the ability to communicateeffectively with patients is essential., Excellent typing and word processing skills with appropriate vocational qualification at NVQ level 3 or equivalent experience. - Basic Numeracy & Literacy Skills to Level 1 or equivalent.
- Basic IT Skills.
- Ability to use Word, Outlook email. Desirable
- Terminology used in medical physics clinical services, particularly nuclear medicine, bone densitometry and vascular ultrasound and relevant medical terminology.
- Excel.
- Familiarity with databases.
- Audio typing qualification. Experience Essential
- Secretarial experience in the health sector, with experience in dealing with the general public. Desirable
- Previous experience of working within a busy administrative environment, subjected to frequent interruptions. Physical Skills Essential
- Ability to move and handle objects safely. Skills and Knowledge Essential
- Good organisational and administrative skills
- Ability to prioritise.
- Ability to work as part of a team and independently.
- Must be an effective communicator with staff and patients of all ages.
- Able to work under pressure with interruptions.

- Familiarity with PACS and RIS including case note tracking.
- NVQ level 2 in Customer Care.
