Full Job Description

Our Medical Secretaries handle a variety of duties that aid the daily function of our two practices, and they are critical to helping support our GPs and clinical teams., The duties are usually wide ranging and the main responsibilities include:

  • manage the administrative side of the referrals process for all care pathways;
  • process referrals/advice and guidance requests and any follow-ups necessary using the appropriate NHS referral systems, in accordance with local and national guidelines;
  • provide referral and treatment pathway information and administrative support to the whole practice teams;
  • be the first point of contact for medical secretarial queries, communicate processes and show initiative when dealing with complex queries autonomously;
  • manage the flow of non-NHS requests from patients and third parties ensuring efficient use of practice resources;
  • run searches and formulate strategies that can improve data quality on important domains like disease prevalence;
  • ensure call and recall system operate effectively to evidence performance.
