Full Job Description

Are you looking for a career in a highly successful Clinical Trials Unit, working in dynamic multidisciplinary teams designing and delivering clinical trials that will really make a difference?

We are a rapidly growing UK Clinical Research Collaboration registered Clinical Trials Unit (www.ukcrc-ctu.org.uk) based in the School of Medicine at the University of Nottingham. Our mission is to conduct top quality, high impact multicentre clinical trials across a range of health areas which will improve health outcomes. We have a broad and expanding portfolio of trials including studies evaluating pharmacological and non-pharmacological interventions, medical devices, and complex interventions. In addition, we conduct methodological work to improve the efficiency and quality of trial design, conduct, analysis and reporting.

The successful candidate will contribute to trial design, conduct, analysis and dissemination as a valued member of multidisciplinary trial teams. They will also be given the opportunity to develop (or continue to develop) research interests, contribute to trials methodology research, and to contribute to the development and delivery of 'research methods' training courses offered by NCTU. Please visit www.nctu.ac.uk for further details.

The post is available at two levels - Level 4 which would suit statisticians with some experience in the design, set up, analyses and reporting of randomised controlled trials, and Level 4a which would suit candidates with less experience and those expecting to obtain a postgraduate qualification in Medical Statistics this year.

The successful candidate will enjoy many benefits including 30 days annual leave, all bank holidays and additional university closure days, discounted membership to the state-of-the-art sports facilities, extensive training opportunities through the University's programs, and discounts with various providers.

The post is offered on a fixed-term contract for a period of 24 months. Hours of work are full-time (36.25 hours per week) ; however applications are also welcome from candidates wishing to work part-time (minimum 29 hours per week). Please specify in your application if you wish to work part time and the number of preferred hours. Job share arrangements may be considered. The role can be fully office based or open to a hybrid working model with a blended approach of home and office working (typically a minimum of 2 days pro rata per week on campus).

We recognise the benefits a diverse working environment brings and encourage applications from all individuals. Applications must include an up-to-date CV plus a covering letter indicating which post you are applying for (Level 4a or Level 4) and provide details of how the criteria of the post are met.

Requests for secondment from internal candidates may be considered on the basis that prior agreement has been sought from both your current line manager and the manager of your substantive post if you are already undertaking a secondment role.
