Full Job Description

  • Developing study protocols, statistical analysis plans (SAPs) and reports summarising findings

  • Providing guidance on required data extraction contents and data modelling activities

  • Conducting statistical analysis on real-world datasets in line with approach documented in study protocol/SAP

  • Performing quality assurance activities on statistical results and outputs

  • Preparing and presenting statistical analysis results

  • Supporting the preparation and development of abstracts, poster/presentations and manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed journals or presentation at conferences

  • Carrying out project management activities, such as planning study delivery and leading meetings with external stakeholders

  • Supporting Business Development activities, including proposal development

  • Gaining a deep knowledge of our software products, datasets, and ophthalmology

  • Mentoring of less experienced team members

    We are looking for an experienced Medical Statistician to join our expanding Data Services team. The analysis of data, in a regulated and controlled manner, is an important growth area for the company and this is an exciting opportunity to join us in a key role, taking a lead on the design, development and delivery of studies using real-world Ophthalmology EMR datasets.


  • The successful candidate will be thorough and systematic with a keen eye for detail. Excellent technical ability and a proven aptitude for problem-solving are essential. They will be proactive in their approach and confident dealing with a range of stakeholders, both internal and external alike.,
  • PhD or MSc in Medical Statistics, Biostatistics, or a related discipline

  • Extensive knowledge of statistical modelling techniques

  • Strong proficiency using R for statistical computing and data visualisation

  • Experience analysing large and complex real-world (ideally medical) datasets

  • Experience writing technical documentation, ideally protocol or SAP documents

  • Experience managing multiple projects with competing timelines

  • Ability to engage with a broad range of people across different business functions

  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written

  • Excellent numerical and analytical skills and a proven aptitude for problem-solving

  • Meticulous attention to detail


  • Desirable additional criteria:
  • Experience working with Ophthalmology data

  • Experience working with complex electronic health record datasets

  • Knowledge of clinical coding standards and concepts (OPCS4, ICD-10, SNOMED-CT)

  • Knowledge of Machine Learning Techniques and/or Deep Learning methods, including image-based algorithms

  • Exposure to prospective capture clinical trials and CRF design
