Full Job Description

Our department has a strong emphasis on training and development, working closely with HEE and the HEIs of Medway, Kings and UCL to deliver the diploma programme, CEPIP and independent prescribing qualifications. For those who have completed the diploma, opportunities include non-medical prescribing, becoming a designated supervisor for trainee pharmacists and other line management

To start straight as a band 7, you would be required to have Stage 1 (Certificate) of the Foundation Programme or equivalent, or be on target to achieve it in the next 3 months, plus meet the other essential requirements in the job description. If you do not quite meet these requirements you could be considered for the structured band 6 to 7 progression.
This post offers a variety of experience, primarily split between patient services and medicines information, with ad hoc cover of acute wards and clinical trials when necessary. Clinical screening is a major element of this role
This candidate will need to work in an intense environment, demonstrate good leadership skills, and manage multiple priorities. The individual will work as part of a team, both within pharmacy and with other stakeholders across the trust. Previous experience of working on wards is an advantage. Awareness and understanding of CQC, GPhC and NHS standards is an advantage.

Successful candidates will be appointed to the first pay step within the band when they start with the Trust (unless they have previous relevant NHS continuous service), thereafter individuals will progress up the pay steps in accordance with NHS Agenda for Change (AfC) terms and conditions. For part time roles you will receive a pro rata'd (proportional) salary payment based on the appropriate pay step/point and hours worked in accordance with AfC and all medical and dental terms and conditions.
Surrey and Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust operate a 24 hour 365 day a year service and all nursing, clinical and operational roles will require staff to work 24/7 shifts (if required) unless you are specifically advised otherwise as part of the recruitment process.
