Full Job Description

Are you experienced in pharmacy and looking for a new challenge the offers variety and the opportunity to make a change, then this could be the role for you., These new roles will provide the right candidate to further develop their understanding of medicines management, and engage daily with a wide range of health care professionals. No two days are the same, this role will give variety to daily tasks:

  • Recycle and re-use of medicines from wards and clinical areas

  • Dispensing a range of prescription types

  • Working to local standard operating procedures

  • Working across all ELHT sites, visiting clinical areas to manage medicines waste

  • Processing stock medicines

  • Assessing medicines and assembly of medicines at ward level

  • Working as part of ward based clinical pharmacy teams

  • Assessing medicines for suitability at the bedside

  • Working with ward staff to support training on medicines management

  • Answering call and queries at reception

  • Training new members of the team

  • Participating in the late night, weekend and bank holiday rota

    We are looking for applicants who have experience of managing medicines, and will be able to help deliver a new way of ward working for our pharmacy assistant team. We are passionate about waste reduction, and we are actively looking for candidates who can support the department to ensure best use of medicines.


  • We are a friendly team, and working with us provides the opportunity to develop yourself, as we are big enough to support rotation of duties.

    The successful applicants will have a sound knowledge of medicines management, is a strong communicator, is aware of how to manage time to meet deadlines, and must be confident in the use of data and systems.

    This is a dynamic role, as our services are essential to patient care. We are excited to be expanding our team and we would love to her from you.

    ELHT has recently installed a full electronic patient record, and state of the art robotics.

    Our team come together to ensure we respond to the needs of a busy acute hospital. We are also familiar with making the transition to a new sector, and we provide a full induction and training with support for all new team members.
