Full Job Description

We are looking for a ward based Medicines Management technician to join our established team working at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated pharmacy technician to join the dynamic and well established Medicines Management team.

The pharmacy at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital has a reputation for innovation and provides a comprehensive service at ward level through the use of technology such as trust wide electronic prescribing, medicines administration and electronic ordering from wards.

You will gain a wide range of experience working within different specialities providing pharmaceutical care. The post holder will be working at ward level and duties will include medicines reconciliation, assessment of patient's own drugs, patient counselling, transcribing of medication, liaising with ward pharmacists and nursing staff to ensure medications are prescribed accurately, participating in the admissions unit medicine round, assisting the pharmacist on ambulatory care and supervision and training of new and pre-registration staff. A full and comprehensive in-house training package will be provided to help you to develop in this role.

The successful candidate will also participate in the MMT rota, weekends and bank holidays.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will be working with patients and alongside other healthcare professionals.

Deliver quality care to patients at ward level as part of an efficient Medicines management system.This includes confirming patient medication histories, assessment of patient's own medicines, preparation and administration of medicines including IVs, counselling patients about their medicines and co-ordinating the supply of discharge medication
