Full Job Description

We are a friendly and enthusiastic team dedicated to improving patient care through medicines optimisation. We work with a range of NHS, health and social care organisations, delivering medicines optimisation support to a variety of health and social care sector customers including in care homes, domiciliary care and GP practices.

We offer a role in a forward-thinking, innovative team with opportunities to deliver outstanding medicines optimisation support in our new business team. You will be working in a team of experienced technicians delivering medicines support to a variety of customers which currently includes support to GP practices and community pharmacies with the roll out of the new national Pharmacy First scheme. You will enjoy a varied work agenda that supports high-quality, safe care for patients., Your key responsibilities will initially include working with Local Pharmaceutical Committee and NECS colleagues to effectively support GP practices and community pharmacies implement the Pharmacy First scheme in the North of Tyne area, South Tyneside, Sunderland and County Durham. You will join a dynamic team who constantly attract new business from a variety of customers so future work could include safe use of medicines in care homes and domiciliary care providers, auditing systems and processes for medicines management, developing recommendation reports and handling medicines queries, including safeguarding concerns from health and social care providers as well as roles in supporting local authorities with a range of medicines related activities including review and development of Pharmaceutical Needs Assessments.

We offer hybrid working in this role meaning that the successful candidate can work from a mixture of locations including home, NECS offices and customer locations. Your working week is likely to include 2-3 days in GP practices and community pharmacies, 1-2 days working from home writing up reports, attending online meetings, and supporting queries, and 1-2 days in the NECS office in Newburn, working alongside colleagues.

We are looking for an experienced, adaptable pharmacy technician who is ready to take on a variety of new challenges. The ideal candidate will be a caring, dedicated, reliable and patient-focused professional. Excellent communication skills are essential along with negotiating skills, as you will need to interact effectively with healthcare professionals, patients, family members, and care staff. Additionally, you should be a self-motivated individual with the ability to plan and work flexibly, both independently and as part of a team.
