Full Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Membership Governance Manager to join the Northern Care Alliance.

The post holder will be responsible for acting as the lead for maintaining an effective Council of Governors and Membership as a key statutory function within the governance model of the Foundation Trust. As part of this duty the post holder will be expected to be aware of all relevant legislation and be able to interpret national policy advising the Council of Governors on matters of statute.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be responsible for:

The development and implementation of an effective Membership and Public Engagement Strategy and Plan enabling fulfilment of all aspects of membership recruitment and engagement.

Ensuring effective arrangements are in place for the Council of Governors to fulfil their statutory duties, supporting the Deputy Trust Secretary with respect to key statutory duties.

Enabling and supporting the Governors to fulfil their roles effectively by providing a high level if administrative support, including acting as the first point of contact and responding accurately and efficiently.

To manage the flow of information between members and governors, for example, sending out newsletters, coordinating member surveys and administering membership card schemes, development of articles for inclusion within the membership newsletter.

To co-ordinate the approach to membership engagement.

Co-ordinate the work plan and agenda setting process for meetings of the Council of Governors and associated forums or sub-committees.

To manage the process of formal governor elections.

To co-ordinate and manage a comprehensive Governor Induction and Training Programme.

To provide training to Governors on a range of matters relating to governor and membership engagement including, for example, the role of a governor in a Foundation Trust, mechanisms to seek member feedback, statutory responsibilities of governors and how these can be discharged effectively.
