The Purpose: The Soft Tissue Therapist will play a pivotal role in the delivery of world-class sports therapy services to our men's first team. Working closely with physiotherapists, doctors, osteopaths, players, coaches, and other members of the medical and performance staff, you will contribute to the prevention, assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation of soft tissue injuries. The Role:

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of soft tissue injuries using a variety of assessment techniques whilst feeding back to the head physiotherapist and head of medical.
  • Develop and implement individualised treatment plans to facilitate the efficient recovery of players from soft tissue injuries.
  • Administer a range of manual therapy techniques, including massage, myofascial release, and stretching, to alleviate muscle tension, improve flexibility, and enhance recovery.
  • Provide education and advice to players regarding injury management, recovery strategies, and self-care techniques.
  • Effectively communicate with physiotherapists and other medical staff to ensure a coordinated approach to player care.
  • Assist and deliver world class recovery techniques for the 1st team players.
  • Where required assist during training and match days in the physical and mental preparation to compete at the highest level.

    Minimum level 3 diploma in Sports Massage. Ideally level 4 Advanced therapeutic massage.
  • BSc (Hons) Sports Therapy - Registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)
  • Significant experience working in elite sports.
  • Language skills: Fluency in Spanish or Portuguese is highly desirable.
  • Proven experience working as a soft tissue therapist within a professional sports environment, preferably with elite-level athletes.
  • Strong knowledge of anatomy, biomechanics, and exercise physiology.
  • Proficiency in a variety of soft tissue therapy techniques, and tool-based treatment including sports massage, myofascial release, stretch therapy and trigger point therapy.
  • Excellent levels of communication skills to develop deep and caring relationships with players and staff.
  • A proactive approach to injury prevention and player care, with a commitment to delivering the highest standards of clinical practice.
  • Ability to multitask and work to strict deadlines.
  • Ability to integrate into the multidisciplinary medical team.
  • Ensure strong lines of communication between departments ensuring alignment on medical decisions.
  • A growth mindset with a willing to push develop themselves and the wider team.
  • Strong work ethic with a positive energetic can-do attitude - proactive and solution orientated.
  • Calm and measured when working under pressure.
