Full Job Description

We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Mental Health Nurse to join our Primary Care team at HMP Bullingdon, a category B Prison located in Oxfordshire. HMP Bullingdon has a capacity for 1152 male inmates. It is a remand prison which offers 24 hours healthcare and has emergency responders and an inpatient unit. Hours 37.5 hours per week 3-4 days per week out of 7 (1 in 3 or 4 weekends), As a Senior Mental Health Nurse, your responsibilities will vary. You will

  • Responsible for assessment and ongoing management of our patients' mental health needs.
  • Work collaboratively with the multi-disciplinary team as an autonomous practitioner managing a caseload of patients, assessing their physical, social and psychological needs to develop a holistic health care plan.
  • Contribute to our nursing strategy and vision to; Provide outstanding evidence based care to our patients, seeking out, listening to and acting on their feedback, so that care is personalised and informed by what matters to them.
  • Deliver non-judgemental care, building therapeutic relationships and promoting professional boundaries.
  • Play an active part in the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of the patient's care following our policies and procedures and always considering safeguarding.

  • Registered nurse - Mental Health
  • Current professional qualification (NMC)
  • Experience of the complexities of multi-disciplinary and multi-agency working.
  • Understanding of mental health policy including clinical governance and the quality and outcomes framework, along with national standards such as NICE
