Full Job Description

You will be working alongside an established and experienced multi-disciplinary team (MDT). This consists of nurses, healthcare assistants, nursing associates, doctors, the occupational therapy team, a psychologist, the pharmacy team, a support, time and recovery (STR) worker and a peer support worker.

As a Staff Nurse you will have the opportunities to deliver patient-centred care supporting patients in their recovery. You will work as part of the MDT undertaking assessments of patients with complex mental health needs developing care and recovery plans in collaboration with the patients and their families/carers.

In conjunction with the team, you will assess and manage risks and will work closely with other teams and professionals to ensure the effective discharge of patients.

We are passionate about ward improvements and would like you to be involved in this., To deliver a high standard of evidence based inpatient nursing care in the designated care group in partnership with the team, the service users and where appropriate their family

  • To act as a primary nurse in the assessment of needs and organising of care. To co-ordinate shifts and provide supervision for support workers and students. To work within a team of nurses and other professionals who are committed to the delivery of a quality service. To adopt a flexible approach to hours of duty, in order to meet the needs of the service over a 24-hour period. To take charge of a designated clinical area and deputise as appropriate. To represent the Ward Manager and/or care team, at appropriate forums and disseminate information as required. To represent the clinical team perspective at multidisciplinary meetings and clinical reviews of patient care. To be an active participant in the multi-disciplinary team, formulating care plans and utilising appropriate assessments.

  • Registered Nurse with current registration (mentalhealth / LD/ Adult) appropriate to the job role.

    Child and Adult safe guarding procedures.

  • Knowledge of MHA (1983/2007).

  • Knowledge of Mental Capacity Act (2005)

  • Demonstrate ability to enhance care through evidence based knowledge.

  • Demonstrate professional development relevant to the care group

  • Demonstrates ability to assess and manage clinical risk, Registered Nurse with current registration (mental health / LD/ Adult) appropriate to the job role, Knowledge of MHA (1983/2007)

  • Knowledge of Mental Capacity Act (2005), to include practical knowledge of FACE documentation, DOLS and Best Interest decisions

  • Child and Adult safe guarding procedures.

  • Change management, organising and prioritising workloads

  • Demonstrate ability to enhance care through evidence based knowledge

  • Demonstrate professional development relevant to the care group

  • Demonstrates ability to assess and manage clinical risk, You must have appropriate UK professional registration.

    This post offers the Trust's £4,000 Incentive for band 5-7 Nurses & Practitioners, as well as a relocation package up to a maximum of £8,000 (subject to terms and conditions)., At Mill View we have recently moved to working 2 shift patterns. This consists of:
    - Long day - 07:00-19:30
    - Night shift - 19:00-07:30
