Full Job Description

We have an exciting new opportunity within the Mental health support teams working within CAMHS to bring to life our big ambition of people with lived and living experience shaping every decision. We are looking for a passionate and motivated individual committed to ensuring our diverse group of service users and carers are at the forefront of, and included in, the planning, development and delivery of our services. We strongly encourage and welcome applications from people with lived or living experience of accessing mental health services. Experience of being involved in service developments and / or engaging others to do so may count toward equivalent qualification. We are able to offer the opportunity to discuss this role and it's remit in more detail and where possible we will also try to accommodate some time with the central involvement team to work shadow. Working across all 5 Mental health support teams in CAMHS , the Involvement Coordinator will work with our service children young people, carers and services to link in with current involvement opportunities as well as identifying, facilitating and enabling new opportunities by providing expertise and support. Examples of current involvement and engagement opportunities include:

  • Capturing experience, feedback and views of our children young people and carers
  • Interviewing staff as part of recruitment processes
  • Co-delivering training for staff
  • Membership at service development meetings/groups/forums
  • The work of this role will scan across all our MHST's in the trust alongside managers and colleagues committed to service user and carer involvement. Line management and supervision will be from our Lead for the Whole school approach, EBSA and FE with additional support from our friendly and passionate central involvement team. The role will provide insight to how our services are run, planned and commissioned and the opportunity for learning and development arises everyday not only through the formal training offered but also through the experiences shared by our service users and carers. The post holder will:
  • Promote the involvement and engagement of service users and carers in service planning, developments and delivery with strategic leads, services and teams
  • Promote the concept and encourage involvement and engagement to
  • service users and carers
  • Identify new opportunities for service user and carer involvement and engagement
  • To provide day to day line management and supervision to Assistant
  • Involvement Coordinators and any volunteers
  • Provide an induction to service users and carers for their involvement activity
  • Identify, and support access to any training required to undertake
  • involvement and engagement activity
  • Utilise a variety of feedback methods to ensure that service users and carers have the opportunity to provide feedback on their experiences and views on proposals
  • Use analytical skills to review service user and carer feedback to identify key themes and risks to support service developments
  • Establish and maintain links with diverse groups to ensure that involvement reflects the diversity of the community the Borough serves
  • Support leads, services and teams to capture and record the output from involvement and engagement activities
  • Capture and record a summary of service developments made following engagement and involvement activity
  • Be the local point of expertise for staff, service users and carers regarding involvement and engagement
  • Populate and contribute to a Trust-wide central database of service users and carers who wish to be considered for involvement and engagement opportunities or are currently involved in activity
  • Mediate in any matters of conflict arising from involvement activity
  • Plan and facilitate meetings and involvement/engagement events
  • Challenge inappropriate behavior
  • General associated administrative duties.
  • Project Management Work
  • To have some responsibility for the planning, organisation, delivery and monitoring of projects which involve service users and carers
  • To identify barriers to involvement and develop strategies to overcome such barriers
  • To liaise with the staff of other departments and external organisations, in planning and implementing any new initiatives
