Full Job Description

Mentor Role (Remote / Online / Part Time / Full Time) to start in October half term 2024 or January 2025.

Can you safeguard and protect the interests of students from a diverse range of backgrounds?

Are you experienced in providing guidance, both pastoral and academic, to SEND students and/or students with Mental Health barriers?

Do you have an in-depth understanding of the needs of neuro-diverse students?

MVA is an award-winning online DFE accredited independent school for students aged 11 - 18. Founded in December 2020, we have become the fastest-growing independent school in the UK and have won multiple awards including the National Business Award for Best Business in the UK with under 50 Staff in 2022.

At MVA our mentors are allies to individual students on their educational journey. Mentors meet with each mentee individually once per week for 30 minutes and oversee their learning across all subjects, involvement in school life, pastoral well-being, and future plans. Mentors share feedback to parents fortnightly, liaise with subject teachers, Heads of Year, SENDCo, DSL/DDSL, Deputy Heads and Headteacher about any issues or identified needs and are contactable by pupils via their MVA email address.

An exciting opportunity is available for experienced and suitably qualified people to join us as Mentors. Our vision is to provide an effective and consistent level of nurture and personalised one-to-one support to students across the school. This is a role where your hard work will make a significant difference to young people learning online. You will work closely with students, parents and teachers to remove barriers to learning and will support Heads of Year and Senior Leaders to inform and implement appropriate interventions to ensure our students are supported in developing essential character strengths that will support lifelong health and wellbeing.

We invite applications from candidates with proven experience in supporting young people with SEND and Mental Health to achieve success. Candidates must also have QTS and a minimum of 3 years teaching experience in a Secondary school environment.

Applications for this role must be submitted through TES and we ask candidates to indicate details of their minimum and maximum availability for the role in their personal statement. This role comes with a high degree of flexibility and potential for development to full-time, in-time.

We reserve the right to close this vacancy early if we receive sufficient applications for the role. Therefore, if you are interested, please submit your application as early as possible.

As this is a remote role, you will be required to have a suitable home-working set-up which should include a laptop.
