Full Job Description

To liaise with the relevant supervisors regarding requests for special diets and any other issues with the patient menu cards.

To raise any queries with special diets with the hospital dietitians to ensure patients receive the correct diet.

To communicate on a daily basis with patients, nursing staff and colleagues. Contact with nursing staff & patients may be either face to face within the hospital or by the receiving of telephone requests into the department for extra meals or special diets.

To liaise with Managers and Supervisors daily and act upon any specific tasks required.

Report any equipment faults or Health and safety issues to the supervisors as and when they may arise.

Visit wards when required to resolve any issues or problems with the patient menu card system.

Main duties of the job

.To collate menu card information manually over bank holidays when menus are changed and cards not completed.

2.Check all special diet requests ensuring patients have ordered appropriate meal choices and altering choices where necessary.

3.Collate special supplementary menus daily and provide the information to the cooks.

4.Telephone wards that do not complete menu cards on a daily basis to ascertain meal numbers and any special requirements.

5.Complete patient questionnaire's with patients.

6.Carry out photocopying of menu cards. .

7.Carry out typing, photocopying and filing, this would include ward kitchen audits.

8.Use the Menumark computer software system daily to collate and generate information from the patient menus.
