Full Job Description

The Merchandising team play a key role in how we trade our product. As a team, we ensure that we have the right product, in the right place, at the right time. We work side by side with our Buying team, managing the departments product buys through the supply chain from Supplier, the distribution network and into our stores for our customers.

Helping to trade the department is the exciting part of the role, where we monitor the market and sales trends and analyse sales performance and stock levels whilst always making sure that our product critical path remains on track.

The Commercial Team environment is fast-paced and energetic. We are positive, ambitious, forward-looking and data driven. We must take calculated risks, to keep growing market share.

The goal of Commercial is to drive sales and profit for Dunelm through sourcing the best quality products, at the best prices, from sustainable and ethical sources. The Commercial Team encompasses Buying, Merchandising, Sourcing, Technical and Design.,

  • I oversee critical path management and challenge the team to ensure products arrive on time.

  • I have a strong understanding of our customers, our competitors and market insight.

  • I help shape the departments supplier strategy; I build a good rapport with suppliers & lead supplier meetings. I encourage the team to build strong supplier relationships and use opportunities to gain experience from their suppliers/ broaden their production experience.

  • I manage the markdown plans for my department & communicate the impact discounts will have on the overall trading margin rate.

  • I take on additional projects outside of my category to support in the wider merchandise function.

    It's the Merchandiser's job to support their team in the end-to-end range build and ongoing trading of our department. Extremely organised, have a high attention for detail and a passion for product., I have a wealth of experience within the retail industry.
