Full Job Description

The Metadata Engineer is responsible for capturing, cataloguing, and managing metadata from integrated data sources. This role involves implementing automated metadata harvesting processes, documenting data models, establishing auditing processes, and ensuring metadata quality. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in metadata management, particularly with Oracle Data Catalog and Alation.,

  • Capture, catalog, and manage metadata from integrated data sources, implementing automated metadata harvesting processes where possible.

  • Perform manual insertion and manipulation of metadata as required.

  • Document the physical data model of data sources, including the associated data dictionary and data lineage.

  • Establish auditing processes to validate activities, report exceptions, and highlight data anomalies in data sources.

  • Report on the quantity and quality of curated metadata.

  • Maintain the data catalog and document the metadata harvesting process to ensure metadata quality.

    Bachelor's or Master's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Data Management, or a related field.

  • Extensive experience in metadata management, particularly with Oracle Data Catalog and Alation.

  • Proven track record in automating metadata capture, data lineage, and data dictionary development.

  • High level of proficiency in metadata management with tools such as Oracle Data Catalog and Alation.

  • Strong understanding of data models, data dictionaries, and data lineage documentation.

  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to stay updated with the latest trends and technologies in metadata management.
