Full Job Description

Meter Readers will be allocated a region within the southeast England area that they will cover day to day, with the expectation of covering any other region within the Thames Valley area as and when the business dictates. As the role is based in the south of England, the candidate must be able to access the Thames Valley region with relative ease and the London office for the monthly team meeting and for any other training or meeting requirements. Meter Readers have a good support network within the team to help them achieve their potential. Field Operations supports the wider business fielding requests from various departments. In these cases, a more in-depth visit and report is sometimes required to allow swift resolve of any issues and a high-quality service to our customers. The working environment is lively and fast paced, requiring individuals to work autonomously and within a team to collectively achieve the monthly targets.   • Work as part of the wider Metering Team, with the ability to work both collaboratively and autonomously
  • Undertake site visits to customers accurately record, validate and process commercial water meter readings within a designated region
  • Conduct site investigations to report on premises status
  • Ensure all information is recorded accurately and complies with the necessary processes.
  • Verify readings in cases where consumption appears to be abnormal and record possible reasons for fluctuations.
  • Ensure correct escalation routes are used in cases of potential health and safety risks
  • Reconnection of supply where required
  • Deliver an excellent and professional customer service experience
  • Provide support and assistance to team members when called upon, to conduct jobs where multiple field operatives are required

  • Disconnection - Successful visit outcomes

    Experience as a utilities meter reader would be preferable
  • Previous experience in debt collections would be desirable
  • Have a full UK manual driving license with no more than 3 penalty points
  • Be in good health to be able to walk up to 5 miles per day, which may also involve climbing stairs, and carrying essential tools such as lifting keys and pry bars. There will also be heavy lifting involved when removing pit covers to access meters so would need to be able to conduct this work
  • Be well-presented and polite
  • Be well-organised with the ability to work autonomously and to follow a set schedule
  • Good internet connection is required when logging on remotely
  • Have a good geographical knowledge of the Thames Valley region and able to use and follow GPS/satnav platforms
  • You will demonstrate strong communication skills (both written and verbal) and a passion for delivering great customer service
  • Good IT systems experience, particularly Microsoft office
  • Highly motivated to succeed with a flexible approach to tasks and working
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills, with a professional approach to work
  • Demonstrable experience in conflict resolution, meter reading: 2 years (preferred)
