We wish to appoint an enthusiastic, Midday Assistant., Core responsibilities and tasks

  • Supervise and assist pupils taking lunch.
  • Clear tables when meals are finished.
  • Supervise and control the behaviour of pupils whilst they eat meals and in the playground.
  • Enforce sanctions for maintaining behaviour.
  • Administer basic immediate first aid.
  • Record incidents /actions.
  • Provide general pastoral support, guidance and routine advice to pupils.
  • Lead games and activities.
  • Promote active, purposeful and co-operative behaviour/activity.
  • Alert senior staff of any concerns regarding individuals/ groups.
  • Be able to apply emergency procedures e.g. fire.
  • Supervise children in designated areas inside the school during bad weather.
  • Challenge and report strangers on site.
  • Take reasonable overview/precautions/actions to preserve pupils' health and safety
  • Knowledge, skills and experience:
  • Completed a common core programme of induction for working with children

  • To pursue and promote the achievement and integration of diversity and equality of opportunity throughout the Academy's activities
  • To plan, monitor and review health and safety within areas of personal control

  • To maintain high professional standards of attendance, punctuality, appearance, conduct and positive, courteous relations with students, parents and colleagues

  • No specific qualification required Level 1 or 2 in childcare of equivalent - Desirable.
  • EXPERIENCE :
  • Experience of having worked with children of primary school age - Desirable.
  • PROFESSIONAL KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING:
  • Knowledge of effective strategies to manage behaviour linked to SEND or behavioural / emotional needs of children - Desirable.
  • Knowledge of relevant policies and practices in regards to Safeguarding of children e.g. Keeping Children Safe in Education (DfE) - Desirable
  • Knowledge of the importance and benefits of active play and strategies to promote healthy lifestyles - Desirable
  • A good communicator, able to give clear and fair instructions - Essential
  • Able to complete behaviour or accident reports and communicate them to senior leaders or first aid co-ordinators - Essential
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team of professionals, communicating information to teachers and other colleagues effectively - Essential
  • Ability to be vigilant and pay attention to detail in order to uphold Safeguarding procedures and policies - Essential
  • A professional with a flexible approach to work and who enjoys being a good team member - Essential
  • Good interpersonal skills, with the ability to enthuse and motivate others and develop effective partnerships - Essential
