Full Job Description

The post-holder is responsible for the assessment of care needs and the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care. They are also expected to carry out all relevant forms of care and are designated to take care of a ward or equivalent sphere of nursing or midwifery in the absence of the person who has continuing responsibility. The post-holder will be required to work in both the community and the hospital providing care within a continuity of carer model across a 7 day service including night duties. The post-holder is expected to supervise junior staff and to be able to teach qualified and unqualified staff, including basic and/or post-basic students., The Registered Midwife will work as a member of the ward/department team, delivering midwifery care throughout the pregnancy continuum in the maternity unit or community settings to women and babies. The post-holder will be expected to join a continuity of carer team providing this model of care to women across a 7 day service including night duties.
After appropriate skills assessment, the post holder will be expected to act appropriately in emergency situations involving mother and baby. The midwife will take charge of the ward/department/team, in the absence of more senior staff. The midwife will be committed to achieving the Trust's targets regarding the Government's public health agenda.

Midwives who are able to meet the challenge of delivering high standards of care and are ensuring that each woman's journey to motherhood is an individualised experience. The candidate must be willing and able to work both in the hospital and community setting as part of a continuity of care team, ensuring that women receive the BEST care available during their pregnancy and post natal period.
You must hold NMC midwifery registration.
You will be expected to be able to show evidence of current practice/updating.
