An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Registered Midwife to join our Infant Feeding Team for 12 months. Following the recent UNICEF re-accreditation of Maternity Services this is a great opportunity for an interested Midwife to join the Infant Feeding Team and be part of the multidisciplinary team striving for gold accreditation. The post holder will be promoting good infant feeding practices throughout the perinatal service and will support the wider team by providing infant feeding expertise, education and audit to ensure the safety and high quality of the service. Supporting your perinatal colleagues both in the community and hospital settings in the antenatal and postnatal management of infant feeding will be a key part of your role as an opportunity to grow the knowledge and expertise of the workforce and ensure that all service users receive the highest quality evidence based care.   • To ensure all women receive support and information to allow them to make an informed choice regarding infant feeding. To be able to motivate, inspire and empower staff to achieve best practice. To act as an infant feeding resource within the clinical area, supporting staff to enable mothers to carry out feeding in an evidence based and effective manner. To work closely with the Infant Feeding Specialist Midwife and the wider Infant Feeding Team in order to initiate new ideas, practices and approaches to direct clinical care of mothers and babies. To work with the Infant Feeding Specialist Midwife and wider Infant Feeding Team to provide infant feeding training throughout the perinatal service for all staff who come in to contact with new mothers so that they are confident to provide a high standard of basic infant feeding care.

    Our staff oversee over 6,500 patient contacts every day, delivering high standards of healthcare from the following sites

    o Health Innovation Neighbourhood (on the former Newcastle General Hospital and Centre for Ageing and Vitality site) o Newcastle Dental Hospital o Newcastle Fertility Centre o Northern Centre for Cancer Care, North Cumbria o Northern Genetics Service o Cramlington Manor Walks These include a range of flagship services which deliver cutting-edge care (supported by state-of-the-art diagnostic services in both radiology and pathology) and are a catalyst for innovation to support pioneering clinical practice in the NHS. We also have offices at Regent Point in Gosforth and community sites.
